Tihany to Szántód

In order to cross Lake Balaton, we had to take a ferry from Tihany on the northern side, to Szántód on the southern side. It was a windy morning, so we were lucky to get on the last ferry leaving that day. It was just me, Pascale, and the ferrymen–after all, there aren't many tourists out in the Hungarian countryside. We brought our bikes along, which held our tents, sleeping bags, and all of our possessions:

After getting to Szántód by ferry, we had to take a train to Siófok:

After a month of biking as our only mode of transportation, it was strange to suddenly start traveling by ferry and by train. This part of our trip is probably my favorite so far, because I've completely fallen in love with the Hungarian countryside; the landscape is beautiful, the environment is tranquil, and the people are kind. I never envisioned myself traversing rural Hungary, but this goes to show how extraordinary experiences can arise from taking risks and following unique opportunities.
